Stalking a "celebrity"
The post task this week was to follow someone "famous" on social media.
My pick was Michael J. Murphy, a.k.a Mikey Murphy.
For those of you who don't know anything about him, Mikey started out as a youtuber, was quite big on Vine while it was a thing, and is now a film-maker. He's produced and directed a few short films he posted on his Youtube channel, which are great! He even moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be closer to Hollywood, since he's always wanted to work in the movie industry.
He's got about 1.7 million subscribers on Youtube, and 708 thousand followers on Instagram.
From my observation over the past few days, Mikey only posted one picture, and that was a paid partnership with Fossil.
And paid partnerships with clothing/accessory brands is something he does a lot, which I guess is one way from which he makes money for his short films and other projects.
His pictures are mostly of himself, and of course, like every "respectable" instagrammer nowadays, Mikey keeps his feed organised, specially colour wise.
He doesn't really interact with his followers. I went through his most recent post comments, and saw only one comment of his answering someone else's comment on his post.
I'd say overall he isn't very influenced by his audience when it comes to his content on Instagram (Youtube would probably be an entirely different story), although his audience is probably very influenced by his pictures featuring fashion brands.
He's a Hollister boy, people.
